Brazilian airlines Real Aerovias had ordered five Convair 990 in the late 50s, aircraft which ended up operated by VARIG after it took over Real and could not cancel the orders. Here is one of the planes being accepted to Real in a champagne bottle ceremony... Anyone recognizes the girl? You can say she´s much more famous than the plane.

It's Jo Raquel Tejada, and I seriously doubt that particular 990 ever served with VARIG.
Though I could be wrong!

Thank you for the RAAF photo Sal. Taken somewhere in SE Asia by the look of it.

VARIG operated 3 CV-990 received from Real Aerovias but after 6 years of operation the airline decided to keep only the DC-8 and 707 starting the retiring of the Coronado jet. As a side note VARIG was the only airline in the world to operate simultaneously the big quadrijets of the time-coronado, DC-8 and 707.

Something to bring a smile to Adrian....

...and hopefully to some others. It certainly made me smile.
London Airport late 60s I reckon. I found the photo on the Facebook 'Aviation faded glory' page. Credit to Ron Geering.
